Today it was time for Formula 1's only French driver to drive in France, as Sébastien Bourdais took over from Sebastian Vettel at the wheel of the STR3. Testing continued at the short version of the Ricard circuit to approximate to Monaco conditions and Sébastien spent the morning acclimatising to the new car as well as running a tyre comparison between the two types that Bridgestone will provide in Monaco and Montreal. Later in the morning, French Séb began a race simulation which was successfully completed in the afternoon. Also on the day's agenda, some of usual tasks with any new car - systems checking and calibration.
Tomorrow, the action stays at Paul Ricard but switches to another version of the circuit to replicate some aspects of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. This will be the first time both our drivers try STR3 in low downforce configuration as Vettel runs in the morning and Bourdais in the afternoon.

Jarno Trulli took over driving duties from Timo Glock at Paul Ricard for day two of Panasonic Toyota Racing's three-day test in the south of France. His programme focused on finalising aerodynamic set-ups for the Monaco Grand Prix next week, as well as gathering information on?the soft and super soft?compound Bridgestone Potenza tyres that will be used. A shower around lunchtime did not interrupt plans and the TF108 ran smoothly with no mechanical problems, allowing Jarno to complete 120 laps and increase the team's understanding of the car in high downforce configuration. Jarno will be back in the car tomorrow, when a different circuit lay-out will be in use to simulate the demands of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, venue for the Canadian Grand Prix.

The BMW Sauber F1 Team today concluded the work on the car’s setup with regards to the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix. Robert Kubica evaluated different aero and suspension specifications and tested tyres. Although the short version (3.593 km) of Circuit Paul Ricard offers a significantly higher grip level than the streets of Monte Carlo, the team achieved good progress with the F1-08 car in high downforce configuration. The car ran without technical problems for the whole session enabling the team to finish the scheduled test program despite a rain caused break right after lunch.

What comes next:
The BMW Sauber F1 Team will continue testing in Le Castellet for one more day. Tomorrow Nick Heidfeld will be the driver. On a longer (5.255 km) and faster layout of Circuit Paul Ricard preparation for the Canadian Grand Prix will be on the schedule.

Jarno Trulli- Chassis TF108-04
Best Lap Time: 1min 06.205s
Position: 7th
Total laps: 120
"I went through the programme but I can't honestly say that I detected too much difference with the various set-ups that we tried. It was the first time that I have driven the TF108 in high downforce configuration but there was not that much difference in feel. I'm not sure whether that is just a characteristic of this circuit."

Gerd Pfeiffer, Test Team Manager
"We ran a similar programme today as we did yesterday, except adapted to Jarno's set-up. We experimented with some different brakes and a range of different wings and aerodynamic settings. We had no mechanical problems and thankfully the rain that arrived around lunchtime did not affect our running in the afternoon. We completed the schedule and tomorrow we will turn our attention to preparations for Montreal on a different circuit layout."

McLaren - Heikki took over driving duties at Paul Ricard today, continuing the team’s preparations for Monaco. As with Lewis yesterday, Heikki ran the MP4-23 in Monaco-spec as he and the test team worked through the Bridgestone Potenza tyre programme and set-up work.

Circuit: Paul Ricard HTTT, version 2D SC Short - 3.593 km Driver: Kimi Raikkonen Car: F2008 Weather: air temperature 17/20 °C, track temperature 20/34 °C. Variable, a few drops of rain at midday.

Second day of testing this week for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, working again today at the "Paul Ricard" circuit at Le Castellet in the South of France.

Kimi Raikkonen continued with preparations for the Monaco Grand Prix, again working on settings for the F2008 and on development of new aerodynamic solutions for high downforce circuits. The planned programme for these past two days was completed with no technical problems.

The day in figures is as follows: 102 laps completed, the quickest in a time of 1.05.381.

Testing at this circuit, with its configuration modified to replicate some characteristics of a track like Montreal, continues tomorrow, when Felipe Massa takes over behind the wheel.

The ING Renault F1 Team remained in the south of France today to complete a second day of testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castelet, close to Marseille. Again the team enjoyed warm and sunny conditions for most of the day, allowing the continuation of its preparations for next week’s Monaco Grand Prix.

Nelson Piquet took over driving duties from Lucas Di Grassi and completed another busy day in the R28, clocking up 193 laps by the close of play. The team initially began working on an aero programme in the morning, before switching to R&D work in the afternoon.

Nelson remains in the car for the final day of running tomorrow, when the team’s focus will switch to next month’s Canadian Grand Prix. The configuration of the track will therefore be altered to allow the team to run with a low downforce set-up.

Nelson Piquet: “We got through quite a lot today and fortunately it stayed dry for most of the day, which meant I was able to complete a lot of laps. But it’s difficult so simulate the conditions we will have in Monaco next week, and so we mainly concentrated on putting miles on the car and evaluating a couple of new developments that we have, as opposed to set-up work.”

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer: “As the high mileage shows we had good reliability today and we completed our programme as planned. This morning was spent getting Nelson used to the circuit as well as doing aero development on the car, which went well. Then, in the afternoon we did some work on R&D. Everything worked very nicely and so overall a good day’s running for us.”
