McLaren was out in force at the 2008 Goodwood Festival of Speed this
weekend. The festival provided a fantastic opportunity for fans to get
close to the team; with appearances from Lewis and Pedro and a unique
display of historic McLaren cars to celebrate the team’s 40th
anniversary.
Both Lewis and Pedro wowed the crowds in the challenging 1.16-mile
Goodwood hillclimb in a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 car.
Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren test driver Chris Goodwin, also took to the
wheel in the historic M23 (1974).
For Lewis, being at Goodwood was a great opportunity to get closer to
his fans. He spent a lot of time signing autographs, before making an
appearance on the Goodwood House balcony.
Speaking to host Chris Evans, the UK radio DJ, Lewis talked about his love of the festival.
'Goodwood is an event I love because it lets you get closer to the
fans. I always get a real boost from their enthusiasm and positivity.
It's also a place where you can meet other racing drivers in a really
relaxed atmosphere.” Thomas Hancock
