"We have the capacity to make our engines available to other teams," the German told the Sport Bild magazine.

The German publication suggests Theissen's offer is a message to Red Bull, the currently Renault-powered team that is considering switching to Mercedes engines next year.

Sport Bild believes a Red Bull-BMW linkup would be a perfect bid to eventually woo Sebastian Vettel back to the Hinwil based team in the future.

RBR team boss Christian Horner said he is not in a rush to make a decision.

"Regarding our engine choice, we can wait even until the winter time," he insisted.
