Melbourne, 2nd April 2006 - Fernando Alonso continued Renault's relentless domination of the 2006 Grand Prix season with victory in Sunday's action-packed Australian Grand Prix. Shortened to 57 laps when Alonso's teammate Giancarlo Fisichella stalled on the grid, the race featured no less than four safety car periods which cut Alonso's lead to nothing each time. But a damaged nose section and greater difficulty getting his tyres up to temperature meant that second place Kimi Raikkonen was unable to challenge the Renault driver.

Sepang, 19th March 2006 - Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso finished a dominant first and second in Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix, heading Jenson Button on the podium. But these three were in a class of their own. Fourth placed Juan Pablo Montoya was a further 29s down, 3.9s ahead of the Ferraris of Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher, who had fought their way up from 21st and 14th on the grid respectively, the former making just one pit stop to the latter's two.

Imola, 23rd April 2006 - Michael Schumacher scored a thrilling and popular narrow 2.096s win over Fernando Alonso in Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix at Imola, reversing roles with the Renault driver in comparison to last year as he led the Spaniard for over a third of the race by fractions of a second. Ferrari's first win since Indianapolis last year moves Michael up to second in the Drivers' championship, while teammate Felipe Massa finished a strong fourth behind Juan Pablo Montoya to give Ferrari 30 points in the World Championship to Renault's 51 and McLaren's 33. |
